Overview:
Situated at an altitude of 3710m (12172 feet) at the base of Thorong La mountain pass
in the Mustang district, Muktinath is a highly venerated sacred place for both
Hindus and Buddhists.
Hindus call the site Mukti Kshetra, which literally means the “place of salvation”
and it is one of the most ancient temples of the God Vishnu and the Vaishnava
tradition in Nepal. The shrine is considered to be one of the eight sacred places
known as Svayam Vyakta Ksetras (the other seven being Srirangam, Srimushnam,
Tirupati, Naimishranya, Totadri, Pushkar and Badrinath), as well as one of the 108
Divya Desam, or holy places of worship of Lord Vishnu. Additionally, it is also one
of the 51 Shakti Pitha goddess sites.
Day 1, Kathmandu
Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to your Hotel.
Day 2, Kathmandu|Pokhara
Visit Pashupatinath and further, drive west through rural landscape to picturesque Pokhara,
where the high Annapurna Range dominates a valley of lakes and rivers. Enroute visit
Manokamana Temple by cable car.
Day 3, Pokhara|Jomsom|Muktinath|Jomsom
Fly to Jomsom. Drive to Muktinath by Bus/Jeep; take bath in 108 Gandaki Streams,
have darshan and perform Pooja at the temple. Return back to Jomsom for overnight
stay.
Day 4, Jomsom| Pokhara
After breakfast, fly back to Pokhara and Relax. After lunch, local sightseeing – Devi’s
falls, Gupteswor cave, Bindabasini Temple and boating at Fewa lake. Evening free at
leisure or Shop at Lakeside.
Day 5, Pokhara|Kathamdu
After breakfast, drive back to Kathmandu. Visit Saktipeeth, Boudhanath and
Swayambhunahth.
Day 6, Departing Kathmandu
After breakfast, proceed to Jal narayana Temple and later transfer to the airport for
your flight home or onward to a new destination. Tour ends today.
